Job description

About the Role

This position is primarily focused on assurance services, including audit and review engagements, with occasional exposure to compilation engagements, corporate and personal tax, and other client advisory work.

You will have the opportunity to lead engagements, work closely with clients, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the continued growth of both our clients and our firm.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Accountant, you will:

  • Plan and execute audit and review engagements from planning through completion
  • Lead fieldwork assignments, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating engagement resources
  • Prepare and review working paper files and financial statements
  • Perform assurance procedures with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism
  • Identify accounting, audit, and financial reporting issues and develop practical solutions
  • Work directly with clients to understand their operations, answer questions, and provide exceptional client service
  • Present engagement findings and communicate results to senior management and partners
  • Mentor, train, and support junior team members while reviewing their work
  • Assist with the preparation of corporate and personal income tax returns as required
  • Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, confidentiality, and client service

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An accounting degree
  • Actively pursuing the CPA designation
  • At least 12 months of public accounting experience, preferably with assurance engagements
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • A desire to learn, take ownership of work, and continuously develop professionally
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, CaseWare, CaseView, and TaxPrep is considered an asset
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to client locations

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual Salary Range - $65,000 to $75,000 (salary will reach the higher end of the range upon confirmation of successful results from the CFE)
  • Bonus compensation of $2,500 upon passing the CFE
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Travel to work reimbursement of up to $600 per calendar year
  • Health and fitness reimbursement of up to $600 per calendar year
  • Annual CPA dues paid for upon obtaining CPA designation
  • Firm-paid professional development and continuing education
