Investment Analyst – High Yield Credit (Hybrid – Columbus, OH)

At the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS), a 60-person investment staff manages a $129 billion portfolio of diversified assets across public and private markets. They work diligently to create value to ensure the long-term financial health of the Plan, which benefits over one million Ohioans who have dedicated their careers to public service.

Our Internal Fixed Income team is seeking an Investment Analyst to support security selection, credit research, and portfolio management for our US High Yield strategy. The role involves conducting fundamental credit analysis, developing investment recommendations, and identifying relative value opportunities across assigned sectors.

What You’ll Do

The analyst will perform issuer and industry research, analyze financial statements and capital structures, monitor market developments, and build forward-looking investment theses. Working closely with the High Yield Portfolio Manager, this individual will contribute to portfolio construction, risk management, and investment decision-making.

The position also includes participating in investment discussions and meetings with management teams and market participants. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for high yield investing, with primary coverage focused on US issuers.

What You’ll Bring

  • A Bachelor's degree
  • CFA Charterholder or pursuit of the CFA designation
  • MBA or master’s degree in finance or related field preferred
  • At least three years of experience in investments.
  • Have an aptitude for understanding financial information.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to embrace and adapt to the ever-changing investment and organizational environment
  • Ability to perform and understand higher order mathematics for economic, investment and portfolio management reports.
  • Bloomberg experience preferred
  • The ability to become licensed as a State Retirement System Investment Officer (SRSIO) within six months of hire and to abide by the OPERS Personal Trading Policy is required
