SALARY RANGE: $16.42 - $18.98 per hour
DESCRIPTION:
Monroe 1 BOCES is seeking Per Diem School Security Officers to help maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming educational environment for all students, staff, and visitors. In this flexible, on-call role, you will be responsible for patrolling campus grounds, monitoring building access, de-escalating conflicts, and responding promptly to routine and emergency situations in coordination with school administration. The ideal candidate will possess a calm demeanor, excellent interpersonal communication skills to effectively engage with a diverse student population, and a strong commitment to supporting our educational mission. Active certification as New York State Security Guard is preferred for this position. Hours vary between 7:00 am and 4:00 pm.
DUTIES:
1. Provide violence prevention, emergency response and crisis intervention support for the school community.
2. Positive interaction with students and staff daily; assisting with the enforcement of the Monroe One BOCES Code of Conduct.
3. Patrol all buildings on campus/monitoring hallways and daily student movement.
4. Monitor outdoor break areas: supervising arrivals and dismissals to ensure student safety.
5. Conduct and assist with investigations of violent and disruptive behavior: documenting incidents, and relaying information on developments, which may affect the safety and security of students and staff.
6. Assist with emergencies on campus and serve as liaison with responding emergency services agencies.
7. Assist with security operations and administration including ID management and monitoring of district wide card access, surveillance, and alarm systems.
8. Participate in district emergency preparedness exercises and drill coordination.
9. Participate on health and safety subcommittees related to district health and safety issues.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Civil Service eligibility as School Sentry II: Graduation from a high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.
2. Associates Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Science, or related field is preferred.
3. Current NYS License as Security Guard preferred.
4. Experience in Security/School Security preferred.
5. Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation).
