Role Summary

Reporting to the Director of Field Operations, a Superintendent is the leader of the job site. The superintendent must garner buy-in and lead the project forward through setbacks. They must have keen attention to detail to identify issues or potential bottlenecks in a plan and adjust accordingly. They are master communicators able to speak to a variety of stakeholders. They are critical thinkers who can make large scale work plans and coordinate tasks to different teams on the job site. 


The ideal candidate at LG Builders for superintendent is someone who comes from a background of multi-family high-rises and / or high-end retail, hospitality and commercial interiors. Our superintendents thrive on collaboration and accountability seeing a job through from pre-con to completion, including being responsible for holistic scheduling of the project from start to finish. 

  • Supervise the total construction effort to ensure the project is constructed to meet the design document scope in a high-quality manner within the contracted schedule
  • Create, maintain and update the construction schedule within Microsoft Project. 
  • Be the main point of contact for all onsite details including quality assurance, safety and subcontractor oversight
  • Continuously look for ways to streamline and improve internal systems, job site productivity, and safety processes
  • Manage the project schedule using Procore and Microsoft Project, ensuring all trades are aligned to the project timeline
  • Ensure project estimates are accurate and complete, participate in meetings to review the scope of work, discuss ways to reduce costs, and provide value engineering ideas
  • Identify potential bottlenecks and gaps and work proactively to find resolutions while continuing to meet project deadlines avoiding potential delays, liabilities, or risks
  • Manage subcontractor relationships with consistent communication and follow up of scheduling, change orders, RFI's
  • Maintain a positive and productive relationship with clients by communicating professionally, managing expectations, and addressing concerns with a solution-oriented approach throughout the project

Qualifications for Success

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or comparable or equivalent field experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience serving as a construction site superintendent or similar roles
  • Strong technical and communication skills across stakeholders, including email and document organization, with Microsoft Office Suite knowledge required, Microsoft Project & Procore knowledge strongly preferred
  • Ability to apply interpersonal and relationship building strategies to create strong client, owner and subcontractor relationships that continue following project completion
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as architectural drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals 
  • Ability to prioritize various tasks and manage time efficiently identifying long lead times and critical path items
  • Flexibility and adaptability as situations arise leveraging a solution-oriented attitude to meet business needs
  • Critical thinking with a resourceful mindset and a keen eye on detail and organizational skills; process-oriented
  • Able to prioritize and work with a sense of urgency providing frequent, proactive communication
  • Ability to lead an implement Pull Planning Scheduling and Lean Construction Principles
