Location: Montreal, QC (Hybrid)
Salary Range: CAD $80,000 to $160,000, depending on experience

A fire protection and building code consultancy in Montreal is looking for a Fire Code Consultant to join their growing team. The work is code consulting, not systems design.

The projects here are not standard commercial fit-outs. You would be working on things like metro and tunnel infrastructure, large-scale industrial facilities, hospitals, high-rise residential, stadiums, and university campuses. The kind of work where code paths are not straightforward and alternative solutions are the norm rather than the exception.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct building code and fire code analyses for new construction and renovation projects
  • Prepare alternative solutions and code compliance documentation
  • Carry out life safety reviews and write technical reports
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other project stakeholders
  • Work directly with clients and authorities having jurisdiction
  • Manage your own project workload and deliverable timelines
  • Carry out site visits as needed

What They Are Looking For

  • A degree in fire protection engineering, building science, or a related discipline
  • At least 3 years doing code consulting or fire protection engineering work
  • Fluent in French, spoken and written
  • Working knowledge of the Quebec Construction Code, NBC, NFC, and NFPA
  • Able to manage your own project workload and deadlines
  • P.Eng. preferred but not required if you are on track

Fire modelling experience (FDS, Pathfinder, CONTAM) is a plus but not the priority.

The Package

  • CAD $80,000 to $160,000 depending on experience
  • Performance bonus
  • Competitive benefits
  • Hybrid working
  • Relocation support may be available for candidates elsewhere in Canada
  • Professional development support
