Job Description

Seeking an experienced Labor Foreman to oversee daily construction activities on high-rise projects throughout New York and New Jersey. In this role, you assign and coordinate daily tasks, supervise labor crews, enforce safety standards, collaborate closely with project leadership, and ensure work is completed according to schedule, budget, and quality requirements on complex commercial, residential, mixed-use, and healthcare developments.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily activities of labor crews on high-rise construction projects, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards.
  • Assign and coordinate daily tasks for crews, aligning labor resources with project schedules and priorities.
  • Plan workforce needs, manage labor scheduling, and monitor productivity to meet project milestones and production targets.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications to guide labor operations and ensure correct execution of work.
  • Provide strong safety leadership on site, promoting safe work practices and maintaining compliance with OSHA requirements.
  • Lead toolbox talks and safety meetings to reinforce safety protocols and address site-specific risks.
  • Coordinate daily with superintendents, subcontractors, and project managers to align field activities with overall project plans.
  • Oversee quality control for labor-related work, including inspection of concrete, structural steel, exterior envelope, and interior build-out activities.
  • Monitor and track labor hours, production rates, and project milestones, providing accurate information to project leadership.
  • Support site logistics, including material handling, debris removal, and general labor operations for demolition and construction phases.
  • Address field issues and conflicts promptly, using strong communication and conflict resolution skills to maintain a productive work environment.
  • Ensure adherence to NYC Department of Buildings regulations and New Jersey construction requirements where applicable.
  • Adapt to changing project priorities and adjust crew assignments and workflows accordingly.
  • Maintain clear, professional communication with trade contractors, safety personnel, and project management throughout the project lifecycle.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in labor foreman or comparable field supervision roles on high-rise construction projects (10+ story commercial, residential, mixed-use, or healthcare buildings).
  • Proven experience managing crews of 10–50+ laborers in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Hands-on general labor experience with hand tools and power tools used in commercial and residential construction.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Strong safety leadership skills with practical knowledge of OSHA compliance on active construction sites.
  • Experience overseeing concrete, structural steel, exterior envelope, and interior build-out activities.
  • Ability to track and report labor hours, production rates, and project milestones in coordination with project leadership.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to resolve conflicts and provide clear direction to diverse crews.
  • Solid leadership and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on maintaining productivity and quality.
  • Ability to work effectively from project schedules and construction documents to plan and execute daily work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of NYC Department of Buildings regulations and New Jersey construction requirements.
  • Experience with concrete, structural work, demolition, site logistics, and general labor operations.
  • Ability to lead toolbox talks and safety meetings for labor crews.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred but not required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr.
