High-Rise Site Superintendent – Residential & Mixed-Use Construction

Location: Canada

Employment Type: Full-Time, On-Site

Position Summary:

We’re sourcing an experienced High-Rise Site Superintendent for an established residential builder.

This position is responsible for managing site operations across high-rise residential and mixed-use projects. You’ll coordinate trades, suppliers, and site personnel while ensuring construction is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, on budget and to the required quality standards.

The ideal candidate brings at least eight years of construction experience, including supervising high-rise or complex multi-family projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily construction activities for high-rise residential and/or mixed-use projects
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, site personnel, deliveries, equipment, and project logistics
  • Develop and manage short-term schedules, sequencing plans, manpower requirements, and critical site activities
  • Monitor construction progress against the project schedule and identify potential delays before they affect key milestones
  • Review architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and site instructions
  • Identify and resolve constructability issues, trade conflicts, scope gaps, and field coordination challenges
  • Conduct regular inspections to confirm workmanship, quality standards, and compliance with project requirements
  • Enforce site-specific health and safety policies, regulatory requirements, and safe work practices
  • Coordinate inspections with consultants, engineers, municipal authorities, and other project stakeholders
  • Lead site meetings, trade coordination meetings, toolbox talks, and daily planning discussions
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, inspection records, deficiency lists, progress photographs, and other site documentation
  • Collaborate with project managers to manage schedules, procurement requirements, change conditions, and cost exposure
  • Support project turnover, commissioning, deficiency completion, occupancy, and closeout activities
  • Communicate professionally with residents, neighbours, consultants, inspectors, and surrounding stakeholders
  • Promote accountability, cooperation, and continuous improvement across the site team

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5+ years of construction experience
  • Previous experience as a Site Superintendent or in a comparable site leadership position
  • Demonstrated experience supervising high-rise residential, mixed-use, or large-scale multi-family construction
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, building codes, quality requirements, and safety regulations
  • Ability to interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings and specifications
  • Experience coordinating multiple trades through complex structural, building-envelope, interior, and closeout activities
  • Ability to manage project schedules, track progress, allocate site resources, and support cost control
  • Proficiency with construction management software, digital documentation platforms, and standard office applications
  • Canadian construction experience is considered an asset
  • A relevant trades background, technical diploma, or construction-related degree is preferred; equivalent practical experience will be considered

Key Competencies:

  • Decisive site leadership and strong field judgment
  • Excellent planning, organization, and schedule-management skills
  • Strong understanding of high-rise construction sequencing and trade coordination
  • Ability to identify problems early and drive practical solutions
  • Clear communication with trades, consultants, inspectors, and project management
  • Strong conflict-resolution and accountability skills
  • Consistent attention to safety, quality, documentation, and project milestones
  • Professional, collaborative, and results-oriented approach
