Job description

We are seeking a skilled CAE Engineer to support the high-performance computing (HPC) and engineering application environments within our semiconductor R&D and design organizations. In this contract role, you will be responsible for the operational stability, performance, and scalability of compute clusters, EDA tools, license systems, and user access environments.



Key Responsibilities

  • Application Environment Operations: Install, configure, and upgrade engineering applications; manage version trees and environment modules; perform qualification testing and document results.
  • EDA Tool Deployment: Install, patch, and configure EDA tools; support new environment buildouts; troubleshoot installation issues and provide technical support.
  • License Server Management: Operate and monitor FlexLM/FlexNet license servers; resolve license-related issues; generate utilization and idle-license reports.
  • HPC Cluster Operations: Monitor cluster health and job queues; triage failed/pending jobs; apply resource policies; report on utilization and performance metrics.
  • User Access Support: Deploy and maintain remote desktop/login environments; resolve user session issues.
  • R&D Software Management: Manage software assets and license inventory; support procurement and renewals; drive consolidation and standardization based on usage data.
  • Linux System Administration: Handle server provisioning, patching, storage/filesystem troubleshooting; automate monitoring, reporting, and routine tasks via scripting.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in HPC infrastructure, EDA/engineering IT, or Linux system administration.
  • Strong working knowledge of job schedulers (e.g., LSF, SLURM, Grid Engine) and license management systems.
  • Experience with engineering/EDA application environments (e.g., Synopsys, Cadence, Siemens EDA tools).
  • Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash, Perl, or similar) to automate operational tasks.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
