Job description

Math Teachers Wanted for Fun Tutoring program! Sylvan Learning Center of Castro Valley is looking for fun, dedicated Math teachers to help and inspire students. We are currently looking for Math teachers who are able to teach higher level math skills (5th-12th grade math, including Integrated 1/2/3 material). We have 3 locations (Castro Valley, Piedmont, and El Cerrito). Chose the location that is closest to you! 

Sylvan creates individualized learning plans for students of all abilities. Working with well-behaved groups of up to 4 students, you will be responsible for leading instruction and motivating students to be successful. There is no lesson plan to create, no homework to grade, no parent-conferencing, and scheduling is flexible. Enjoy all of the benefits of teaching, without any of the downsides!

Job Requirements:

  • Teach Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, and Pre-Calculus, with opportunities to cover Statistics, Calculus, and high school sciences.
  • Engage with students in small groups (max 4 students) to provide personalized support.
  • Utilize pre-planned lessons to facilitate learning and help students with homework and test preparation.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Teaching Credential recommended
  • Being punctual is extremely important. You must be local and have reliable transportation. 
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

What you should know:

  • You will use pre-planned lessons. They are straightforward, easy to manage, and fun to teach. 
  • Teach students in a small group setting. There will be no more than 4 students per teacher.
  • Most teachers choose to work 2-5 days/week
  • We are open for instruction weekday afternoons 
  • Higher end of pay range will be paid to teachers with significant upper level math experience
  • This is NOT a remote position
