Job description

Summary:

The Visitor Center Clerk I is responsible for delivering excellent customer service to guests, members, and employees, basic food preparation, service, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. This entry-level role involves product order fulfillment, merchandising, and general support for the Visitor Center's day-to-day operations as well as supporting weddings, private and corporate events. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and committed to a high-quality guest experience.


Essential Functions:

Greet and assist visitors with orders, questions, and purchases.

Process member and employee orders in the database; confirm pickups or shipments.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of Visitor Center displays and sales floor.

Support order fulfillment including returns and merchandise request forms (MRFs).

Restock merchandise and monitor expiring products as directed.

Provide curbside or in-person product delivery as needed.

Stay up to date on product information, promotions, and company policies.

Maintain secure and accurate handling of transactions and returns.

Assist with pedal boat operations, and rock-climbing area.

Support weddings, private and company events.

Assist with social media content creation, posting and engagement.

Taking photos/videos and helping create engaging content for social media and advertising.

Conduct safety briefings, equipment checks and readiness.

Food Services (Cafe and Snack Shack)

Prepare and serve basic menu items following provided recipes.

Operate basic kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, and drink dispensers.

Keep food prep and service areas clean and organized.

Assist with stocking supplies and monitoring inventory levels.

Provide prompt and courteous service to guests.

Handle cash and point-of-sale transactions under supervision.


Skills & Qualifications:

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Attention to detail and ability to multitask.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Comfortable standing and interacting with guests for extended periods.

Basic knowledge of food handling and preparation.

Ability to follow instructions and recipes.

Food Handler's Permit.

Ability to work outdoors and on weekends/holidays.


Required Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent.

One year of customer service, retail, or hospitality experience.

A combination of education and experience may meet the requirement.


Preferred Education and Experience:

Previous point-of-sale (POS) or inventory system experience.

Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

CPR/First Aid Certification.


Supervisory Responsibility:

This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.


Work Environment:

This job operates in an agricultural setting. The role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud due to machinery. Exposure to various outdoor elements such as dust, animals, and plants is common.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This position requires the incumbent to be physically present at the assigned worksite. The regular schedule is typically based on seasonal demands and may include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Employees are also expected to work at least one non-convention farm event a year and to work at the annual company convention. Exact hour requirements can be reasonably modified as necessary for the business needs by the employee's manager.
