Job Summary
The Consulting Solutions Engineer (CSE) is a critical technical leader within NetApp's strategic account teams for the Hi-Tech sector. This role blends strategic vision with hands-on execution, serving as a trusted advisor to customer stakeholders while driving technical sales outcomes.
The CSE builds deep relationships with engineering, architecture, and IT leadership within marquee Hi-Tech accounts, shaping long-term technology strategies and ensuring flawless execution of pre-sales and solutioning activities
As the technical lead for strategic Hi-Tech account, you will partner closely with Client Executives to expand NetApp footprint by aligning solutions with customer innovation priorities such as AI/ML, hybrid cloud, cloud-native architectures, semiconductor design workflows, high-performance infrastructure, and others.
This role requires a balance of:
  • Strategic Leadership: Influencing customer technology direction, shaping multi-year roadmaps, and driving platform adoption
  • Tactical Execution: Leading day-to-day pre-sales activities including solution design, POCs, demos, and deal execution

Location: Candidates must reside in San Jose, CA or the surrounding area.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute account-level technical strategies and multi-year roadmaps aligned to customer business and innovation goals
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to CTOs, architects, and engineering leaders within Hi-Tech organization
  • Drive adoption of next-generation technologies including AI/ML infrastructure, hybrid/multi-cloud, data pipelines, and cloud-native platforms
  • Create and maintain technical account plans that map to pipeline growth, whitespace expansion, and competitive displacement
  • Influence ecosystem partners (hyperscalers, GSIs, ISVs) to build joint solutions aligned to customer outcomes

Tactical Responsibilities
  • Lead all pre-sales execution activities: solution design, architecture reviews, technical presentations, demos, and POCs
  • Own the end-to-end technical sales cycle, ensuring alignment between customer requirements and NetApp solutions. Ensure technical accuracy and completeness of proposals, acting as the final authority on solution design
  • Collaborate with specialists and product teams to bring the right technical expertise into each opportunity
  • Build and present compelling technical and financial value propositions (TCO, ROI, business cases)
  • Provide post-sales continuity to ensure successful deployment and customer satisfaction

Requirements & Education
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 12+ years of experience in pre-sales, solutions engineering, or technical consulting
  • Proven track record in managing large strategic Hi-Tech accounts
  • Strong background in data infrastructure, storage, and cloud technologies
  • Experience working with or for leading infrastructure vendors, hyperscalers, or system integrators
  • Expertise in consultative and solution-based selling within large, complex accounts

The target salary range for this position is223,550 - 289,300 USD. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. The range is based on 'On Target Earnings' (OTE) representing the total potential earnings, which is the sum of the base salary and potential commission earned when performance targets are achieved. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package. This may cover Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement or Pension Plans, Paid Time Off (PTO), various Leave options, employee stock purchase plan, and/or restricted stocks (RSU's). These offerings are subject to regional variations and governed by local laws, regulations, and company policies.
