2nd Shift Supervisor at UMSL-3125
Position Summary

HES Facilities Management Group is seeking a Second Shift Custodial Supervisor to oversee evening custodial operations within the University of Missouri-St. Louis. This position is responsible for supervising custodial staff, maintaining cleaning standards, ensuring safety compliance, and serving as the primary point of contact for evening facility operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe learning environment.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupervision and Leadership
  • Supervise and direct second-shift custodial staff.
  • Train new employees on cleaning procedures, equipment operation, and company policies.
  • Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, and performance.
  • Conduct routine inspections and provide coaching as needed.
  • Assist with employee evaluations, corrective actions, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Coordinate staffing and coverage for employee absences.
Facility Operations
  • Ensure all assigned areas are cleaned and maintained according to HES and district standards.
  • Inspect classrooms, offices, restrooms, cafeterias, gyms, hallways, and common areas nightly.
  • Assign work tasks and verify completion of assigned duties.
  • Coordinate special cleaning projects, floor care, and seasonal deep-cleaning activities.
  • Respond promptly to custodial and facility-related concerns.
Safety and Compliance
  • Enforce HES safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure proper use, handling, and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Report accidents, injuries, building damage, and safety hazards immediately.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and district requirements.
  • Conduct periodic safety meetings and training sessions.
Administrative Duties
  • Complete inspections, reports, and required documentation.
  • Maintain inventory of custodial supplies and equipment.
  • Communicate regularly with school administrators and HES management.
  • Assist with scheduling and operational planning.
Customer Service
  • Maintain positive relationships with school administrators, staff, students, and visitors.
  • Address concerns and service requests professionally and promptly.
  • Represent HES Facilities Management Group in a professional manner at all times.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two years of custodial experience required.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of custodial equipment, cleaning methods, floor care, and safety procedures.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and climb throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to operate custodial equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to work in various indoor and outdoor environments as needed.
