Equipment Operations Specialist

Independence Excavating is seeking a motivated Equipment Operations Specialist to support the management of a large and diverse fleet of construction equipment and vehicles supporting multiple active construction projects.

This role will coordinate equipment purchases, rentals, and asset tracking across the organization while serving as the central point of contact for equipment requests from field operations.

The ideal candidate has experience working with construction equipment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple requests in a fast-paced construction environment.

****A typical day looks like:

• Process equipment and vehicle requests from project team

• Coordinate equipment rentals with vendors and rental providers
• Schedule deliveries, transfers between jobs, and equipment returns
• Track rental durations and proactively manage off-rent dates
• Assist with equipment purchasing, vendor quotes, and order tracking
• Maintain Excel tracking logs for rentals, purchases, and asset locations
• Support onboarding of new equipment including documentation and asset entry
• Assist in developing equipment request procedures and SOPs
• Maintain vendor catalogs and equipment supplier contacts
• Support field teams with the equipment request and purchasing process
• Assist with rental invoice reconciliation and cost tracking

Do you have what it takes?

• 3+ years experience in construction equipment, fleet operations, equipment rentals, or construction equipment operations

• Working knowledge of construction equipment and jobsite operations
• Strong MS Excel skills and data entry/tracking skills
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple requests across multiple projects

  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate internally, externally
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and follow-up skills
  • Education: High School Diploma required; undergraduate degree preferred

Candidates with experience from the following environments are highly encouraged to apply:

• Construction company equipment or fleet departments

• Equipment dealerships (CAT, Komatsu, Deere, Volvo, etc.)
