Role Overview

The Senior MSL is a field-based, scientific, and clinical expert who strategically supports the medical and scientific objectives of the program. Key aspects of this role include engaging in peer‑to‑peer scientific dialogue with healthcare professionals that translate into meaningful insight while serving as a therapeutic expert. The role may also engage in peer‑peer scientific and health economic discussions with relevant health‑care decision makers (HCDMs) and influencers within US public and private health‑care entities, including managed care organizations, specialty pharmacy providers, pharmaceutical benefit managers, integrated delivery networks, designated centers, and other health‑care networks.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute medical strategy and engagement for the assigned customer.
  • Communicate clinical and scientific data to KOLs and healthcare professionals through presentations, educational programs, and scientific discussions.
  • Serve as the primary resource to provide support for addressing unsolicited medical questions and other scientific exchange matters.
  • Identify, gather, and document field‑generated scientific insights to drive innovative Medical Affairs strategies while complying with industry and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Maintain an up‑to‑date knowledge base of clinical and scientific literature to enable meaningful scientific exchange.
  • Collaborate with field‑based Medical colleagues, appropriate Commercial colleagues, and the broader organization to provide scientific expertise and share Medical insights in support of internal and external activities.
  • Leverage knowledge of standards of care and company/investigator‑sponsored clinical trials and competitor landscape to facilitate external‑internal research communication.
  • Respond to unsolicited scientific inquiries from Health‑Care Providers, investigators, health‑care systems, academic medical centers and treatment team members, integrating scientific data including real‑world evidence into practice to meet customer needs.
  • Deliver scientific presentations to formulary committees and other key healthcare decision makers, communicating the health‑economic model and supporting clinical data, and serve as the primary field‑based resource to address related questions.
  • Demonstrate strong expertise in health‑economic model design and effectively communicate complex concepts in a clear, accessible manner to diverse HCDM audiences.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of cost‑effectiveness models and budget‑impact models to support informed decision‑making and value discussions.
Requirements

Along with a results‑oriented mindset, self‑assurance, and an engaging manner, the ideal candidate has:

  • MD, PhD, PharmD, PA, NP, or equivalent degree highly preferred.
  • 2+ years of industry experience as a Medical Science Liaison required.
  • Clinical or related practical experiences in GI/Liver preferred.
  • Strong scientific and clinical acumen.
  • Ability to quickly understand and translate complex scientific data and realize its potential impact on clinical practice and research needs.
  • Experience in managed care/PBM, HEOR activities, or strong knowledge of P&T committee processes.
  • Ability to travel up to 60%; overnights and weekends may be required, and possession of a valid driver’s license.
Salary and Benefits

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $200,000 to $220,000. The benefits for this position will include competitive compensation, health benefits (medical, dental, vision), company match 401(k), flexible paid time off (PTO) and sick time. Additional benefits may include a company vehicle or allowance and eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on performance.
