Job description

We are now accepting resume/applications for Carpenter Helpers for the Morgan City, LA and surrounding area. 
Duties/Responsibilities may/may not be limited to the following:

  • Scope of Work:
    • As a carpenter helper, you work both in homes and outside on construction sites, using many types of hand and power tools. Duties include completing basic demolition, cleaning up and preparing work sites, delivering materials, and setting up ladders and temporary structures.
    • Assist leading carpenters to complete projects in time
  • Required Skills:
    • Ability to use electric & hand tools efficiently
    • Carpentry skills REQUIRED
    • Construction background preferred
    • Strong oral & written communication skills
    • Ability to work effectively with others
    • Proven ability to solve problems creatively
    • Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task 
  • Duties/Responsibilities:
    • Using rigging hardware and cranes to erect, install, and level building frameworks.
    • Measuring, shaping, and also cutting plastic, wood, fiberglass and other construction materials throughout the project.
    • Cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate possible hazards
    • Identifies and distributes building materials to appropriate locations, according to project specifications.
    • Removes damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using hand tools
    • Builds or repairs cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, hand tools, or power tools.
    • Shapes or cuts materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
    • Lift and carry merchandises/material as needed.
    • Inspect merchandise upon delivery to identify any damages.
    • Mange house keeping activities when requested.
      • Maintain the work area clean, safe and organized.
      • Assist in waste disposal and recycling activities.
    • Execute daily work instructions received from Supervisor in a timely manner.
    • Work effectively to meet or exceed productivity goals while maintaining high quality standards.
    • Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintaining a safe and clean environment.
    • Comply with company policies and legal guidelines, helping to maintain a safe and orderly work environment
    • Meet quality and performance requirements as outlined by quality assurance and production standards
    • Report safety hazards, quality, and production issues to management immediately
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs
    • Must have good endurance
    • Will be required to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, and crawl to perform task (s)
    • Ability to work in varying hot and cold environments
    • Ability to work outdoors in harsh weather conditions
    • Ability to work in an environments with exposures to dust, dirt and various other debris, metal and paint fumes, gases
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions
    • The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock
  • Documents Required:

  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen
  • Pay:
    • $17.00 - $22.00 (Based on experience)
    • Weekly Pay
    • Pay Schedule: Monday - Sunday

  • Duration of Job: Temp to Hire (Based on job performance)
