BENCH DOGS JOB OPENING: Warehouse Clerk/Material Handler - Manufacturing - First Shift

Bench Dogs is looking for a full-time Warehouse Clerk/Material Handler on first shift!

Bench Dogs is a small manufacturing company located in Denver, PA that specializes in retail displays, store fixtures, and commercial case goods. We have under 100 employees and are unique in that we are a custom, full-service design, engineering, and manufacturing company that sees products from the time they're simply an idea to when they're fully built and installed onsite.

Bench Dogs has employees responsible for everything from design, engineering, and project management to production, inventory, and installation. Our facility is often complimented for its cleanliness and organization and is complete with offices, a warehouse area for inventory and materials, loading docks for staging and shipping goods, a machining department, and a large shop floor area for assembly that includes a finishing area and lamination booth.

Our Warehouse Clerk/Material Handler role here at Bench Dogs is part of our Warehouse Department, which is responsible for managing the flow of materials and finished goods through our facility from the time they're delivered to us and received, to the time they're shipped out and delivered to their final locations. At Bench Dogs, it is extremely important to us that our products are of a high quality and go through our facility and production in a safe and timely manner that allows our finished goods to be delivered and installed on time for our customers. Our Warehouse Clerks/Material Handlers play a significant role in this process and help facilitate our success by:

  • Receiving incoming materials from trucks and deliveries
  • Storing inventory safely and efficiently
  • Picking and packing orders for internal jobs and external distribution to customers and vendors
  • Wrapping and staging materials and finished goods for shipping
  • Assisting with the shipping finished goods to customers
  • Managing inventory levels
  • Documenting and completing all warehouse related transactions in Epicor (ERP system) accurately and efficiently via computer or handheld
  • Maintaining accurate records physically and digitally
  • Utilizing storage systems like racks and shelves and keeping them safe and organized
  • Ensuring proper handling and safety procedures to facilitate smooth product flow throughout the supply chain and maintain high quality standards

The Warehouse Clerk/Material Handler position we're looking to fill is for our first shift, which has a schedule of Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm. The compensation rate for the role depends on level of knowledge, experience, and skill and has a pay scale ranging from $18.91 per hour to $24.15 per hour. The role involves a mix of physical labor working with goods and materials, and sedentary work at a computer processing operational transactions in our ERP software system. We utilize both computers and handheld scanners/devices to complete transactions, and a significant part of this role is being able to successfully navigate our ERP software and accurately and efficiently complete transactions to ensure the information in the software system aligns with the physical movement and storage of goods and materials.

Additionally, some competencies that help to make a good Warehouse Clerk/Material Handler are:

  • Proven experience as a Warehouse Clerk/Material Handler in a manufacturing environment (custom manufacturing and millwork industry experience a plus)
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (especially Epicor) in warehouse management and inventory modules
  • Technologically inclined with strong computer skills and ability to learn new software
  • Valid forklift certification and experience operating various material handling equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high levels of accuracy and quality
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and work in a physical environment
  • Experience with cycle counting and inventory management
  • Demonstrated history of process improvement initiatives
  • Knowledge of quality control processes and inspection procedures
  • Experience with logistics and coordinating the shipment and storage of materials and finished goods
