Position Overview

As an IHSS Attendant, you will assist individuals with personal care, daily living activities, and essential home tasks to support their independence and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide skilled personal care including bathing, grooming, dressing, and hygiene assistance.
  • Assist with activities of daily living such as meal preparation, feeding, and mobility support.
  • Maintain a safe and clean home environment for the consumer.
  • Observe and report changes in the consumerโ€™s condition to the Registered Nurse and supervisory team.
  • Complete service documentation accurately, including time in/out and care provided.
  • Follow infection control precautions, safety protocols, and agency policies.
  • Attend staff meetings and ongoing training to stay up to date with best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with consumers, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Successful completion of agency training and competency evaluations.
  • Reliable transportation (valid driverโ€™s license or access to public transit).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods (2-4 hours at a time).
  • Lift and carry up to 50lbs for transfers and household tasks.
  • Sufficient hand strength and coordination to assist with personal care activities.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, squat, and reach overhead as needed.
