Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Senior Purchasing Agent to support the daily performance of our Purchasing team. This role is ideal for an experienced purchasing professional who enjoys finding better pricing, resolving problems, reviewing work for accuracy, and helping others stay organized and on task.

The Senior Purchasing Agent will manage their own purchasing responsibilities while also developing into a go-to resource for the team. This person will help answer questions, identify issues requiring escalation, audit purchasing activity, and learn how to use metrics and reports to evaluate both individual and overall team performance.

Specific aviation or MRO purchasing experience is helpful but not required. We are looking for someone with a strong general purchasing foundation, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to learn our industry, systems, and processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage purchasing activities for materials, supplies, and other operational needs.
  • Research sourcing options and negotiate pricing, lead times, and purchasing terms.
  • Compare supplier quotes and identify opportunities to improve cost, availability, and service.
  • Build and maintain productive supplier relationships.
  • Serve as a day-to-day resource for Purchasing team members and help resolve routine questions or roadblocks.
  • Learn to recognize purchasing issues that require escalation and communicate them to the Procurement Manager.
  • Help keep purchasing assignments, priorities, and follow-up activities moving on schedule.
  • Review purchase orders, pricing, supplier information, and supporting documentation for accuracy.
  • Audit purchasing activity to identify errors, inconsistencies, or missed follow-up.
  • Learn and use department metrics, reports, and ERP data to evaluate purchaser performance and overall team results.
  • Identify trends involving pricing, open orders, lead times, material availability, accuracy, or supplier performance.
  • Partner with Pricing and other departments to support accurate quotations and operational priorities.
  • Assist with training, onboarding, and sharing purchasing best practices with team members.
  • Help motivate the team, reinforce expectations, and promote accountability in a positive and professional manner.
  • Support purchasing process improvements and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Three or more years of purchasing, buyer, sourcing, or procurement experience preferred.
  • Experience purchasing direct or indirect materials in a business, manufacturing, distribution, repair, or similar environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and an interest in auditing work for accuracy.
  • Ability to compare pricing, evaluate options, and negotiate with suppliers.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Natural ability to motivate, guide, and support others without needing formal management authority.
  • Strong follow-through and willingness to hold yourself and others accountable.
  • Analytical mindset with the capacity to learn performance metrics, reports, and purchasing trends.
  • Experience using an ERP, purchasing, inventory, or supplier management system.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally and escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Aviation, aerospace, manufacturing, or MRO purchasing experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with 14 CFR Part 145 or EASA Part 145 repair station purchasing is a plus but not required.
