Job description

Job Purpose:
Responsible for performing basic food preparation, servicing food, cleaning, and related duties at MCFI kitchen and serving/cafeteria operations.
Reporting Relationships
Reports To:
Team Leader or Manager on duty

Essential Job Functions:

1. Perform kitchen helper duties that includes basic food preparation, following recipes, portion guidelines, proper serving cleaning and customer service functions.
2. Serve meals according to Food Safety Plan and Standard Operating Procedures.
3. Provide coverage and support for team members as needed in a team-oriented kitchen and serving environment.
4. Ability to establish and maintain a productive work pace when preparing, serving, and cleaning.
5. Practice and promote food and physical safety in the workplace and report all incidents or accidents according to agency procedures.
6. Effectively clean and sanitize work areas, following a set schedule and per State and Local health code.
7. Label, date, and properly store food and supplies in the cooler, freezer, or storage area per State and Local health code.
8. Complete all assigned duties including opening and closing checklists daily.
9. Adhere to all workplace and trade safety laws, regulations, standards, and practices.
10. Build and maintain customer satisfaction with the products and services offered by the organization

Knowledge - Skills - Abilities:
• Knowledge, skill, and ability to follow proper kitchen techniques and practices
• Ability to successfully complete all required customer service, food safety and program trainings within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to communicate customer concerns to designated Food Service staff.
• Ability to promote cooperation and commitment within a team to achieve goals and deliverables
• Ability to diligently attend to details and pursues quality in accomplishing tasks.
• Ability to maintain good grooming and hygiene practices as required by agency, local, State, and federal regulation.
Physical Requirements, Visual Acuity, and Work Conditions:
Physical Requirements: Reaching, Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Standing for sustained periods of time. Walking, moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, pushing, pulling. Lifting, raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to-position. Fingering, picking, pinching, grasping items, typing, or otherwise working.
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, and team-lift 75 pounds.
Talking, expressing, or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing, perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction
Visual Acuity: The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned, with or without adaptive equipment
Working Conditions: The worker is subject to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions: Activities could occur outside when loading, unloading, or making deliveries
