Reports To: Engineering Manager / Project Manager

Position Summary

Enviro-Tech Systems is seeking a skilled 3-D CAD Designer/Mechanical Drafter to support the design and fabrication of custom water-treatment and process equipment for the oil and gas, petrochemical, and industrial markets.

This position will create accurate 3-D models, fabrication drawings, equipment layouts, piping drawings, and bills of material for pressure vessels, filtration systems, process skids, tanks, structural frames, piping assemblies, and related equipment. The designer will work closely with engineers, project managers, purchasing personnel, fabricators, and field technicians to move projects from concept through fabrication and final installation.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed 3-D models and fabrication drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Prepare general arrangement drawings, equipment layouts, skid drawings, and assembly drawings.
  • Produce detailed drawings for pressure vessels, tanks, piping systems, structural steel frames, platforms, ladders, and equipment supports.
  • Create piping layouts, spool drawings, nozzle orientation drawings, and piping isometrics.
  • Prepare accurate bills of material and material takeoffs.
  • Convert engineering sketches, process requirements, customer drawings, and P&IDs into complete fabrication packages.
  • Incorporate pumps, valves, instrumentation, piping, filters, vessels, analyzers, and other purchased components into equipment models.
  • Check drawings for dimensional accuracy, constructability, material specifications, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Revise drawings based on engineering comments, customer feedback, shop conditions, and field measurements.
  • Maintain drawing revisions, document control, part numbers, and project files.
  • Coordinate directly with fabrication and machine-shop personnel to resolve drawing or fit-up questions.
  • Perform field measurements and create as-built drawings when required.
  • Assist with equipment manuals, drawing packages, and final project documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to standardize drawings, components, and equipment designs.
  • Support multiple projects while meeting production and customer deadlines.

Equipment and Systems

The successful candidate may work on equipment including:

  • Induced gas flotation and dissolved gas flotation systems
  • CPI and API oil-water separators
  • Media, walnut-shell, solids, and carbon filtration systems
  • ASME pressure vessels
  • Produced-water treatment packages
  • Chemical injection and dosing skids
  • Pumps, piping, valves, and instrumentation
  • Structural skids, platforms, ladders, and access systems
  • Rental equipment modifications and refurbishment projects
  • Analyzer shelters and packaged process systems

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree, technical diploma, or certificate in drafting, mechanical design, CAD technology, or a related field; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor, including parts, assemblies, and detailed drawings.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical fabrication, welding, structural steel, piping, and equipment assembly.
  • Strong understanding of dimensions, tolerances, fits, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to create clear, accurate, and fabrication-ready drawings.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, project managers, vendors, and shop personnel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and complete work within established schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three or more years of mechanical drafting or equipment-design experience.
  • Experience designing fabricated process equipment, pressure vessels, piping systems, or modular skids.
  • Experience with Autodesk Vault, AutoCAD, or similar document-control systems.
  • Familiarity with ASME Section VIII, API, AWS, ANSI, and ASME piping standards.
  • Knowledge of piping components, flange ratings, valves, pumps, and instrumentation.
  • Experience preparing bills of material and supporting purchasing and fabrication activities.
  • Experience working directly with welders, machinists, and equipment assemblers.
  • Experience in the oil and gas, water-treatment, petrochemical, or industrial-equipment industries.
