Job description

About the Role:

We're looking for a Product Designer with 2+ years of experience to join our fast-paced, collaborative team. This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about design craft, user-centered experiences, and impactful digital health products. In this role, you'll help shape intuitive, engaging user interfaces and contribute to our visual design system with high-quality illustrations and motion design. You'll work closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and other designers to create world-class experiences for our users. At Hello Heart, AI is part of how we work, not a side project. You'll be expected to delegate real design work to AI, not just experiment with it.

Responsibilities:

  • Design end-to-end user experiences from concept to execution using Hello Heart's design system and visual language.
  • Craft clean, functional, and pixel-perfect UI designs that make complex health data approachable.
  • Use AI tools and agents to accelerate your design process across research synthesis, prototyping, content drafting, and accessibility review. Continuously raise your own bar.
  • Create original illustrations and animations to elevate the visual storytelling in our product.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, Engineering, and Content, to ensure high-quality implementation.
  • Conduct and participate in user interviews, usability tests, and product discovery sessions.
  • Present your work and rationale clearly in team reviews and stakeholder presentations.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of product design experience working on digital products, ideally in a product-focused company (startup experience is a strong plus).
  • Proven UI design expertise, with a strong sense for layout, typography, color,  illustration, and accessibility.
  • Strong motion design skills, with proficiency in tools such as After Effects, Lottie, Rive, or similar.
  • Proficiency in Figma for UI design and prototyping.
  • A compelling portfolio showcasing polished product UI, original illustrations, and motion work.
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset in cross-functional team settings.
  • Comfortable working in a regulated, data-heavy healthcare environment, where clarity, accessibility, and trust are non-negotiable.
  • Comfortable working independently and proactively in a hybrid team.

AI Fluency (required):

We expect every designer at Hello Heart to use AI as a daily working partner. At minimum, you should be able to:

  • Delegate multi-step tasks to AI agents, not just chat with them. For example: synthesizing user research, generating design variations, drafting copy in our voice and tone, and running heuristic and accessibility audits.
  • Work fluently with AI-assisted prototyping tools such as Figma Make, Claude Design, Lovable, or similar, to move from concept to interactive prototype quickly.
  • Use AI for ideation, content generation, and image generation, while applying strong design judgment to what you keep and what you discard.
  • Build and refine your own prompts, templates, and lightweight workflows. Share them so the rest of the team benefits.
  • Bonus: experience customizing agents, building reusable design skills, or connecting AI into a multi-step workflow.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $145,000.00 to $160,000.00. Salary ranges are determined by role and level. Compensation is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the annual salary and bonus only, and do not include equity or benefits.
