Job description

The part time Flights Ops Support role provides subject matter expert support to key projects and needs inside of Flight Training & Standards and Delta Professional Services (DPS). This role works on an 'as needed' basis for the area assigned. Flight Ops Support individuals should have a basic understanding and knowledge of FAA Part 121 air carrier operations and moderate to expert knowledge of specific areas of focus. This position will report to the DPS Manager of Delta Flight Training Operations. 

Duty Pilots work in the Operations and Customer Center (OCC) and ATL Airport Customer Center (ACC). They are part of the Line Operations department of Flight Ops. The Duty Pilot desk and FAR 117 desk is covered 24/7, 365 days a year by having 3 daily shifts; the Duty Pilot is scheduled to work approximately 10-14 shifts per month in the OCC or ACC. All Duty Pilot positions are located at the General Offices or ACC in Atlanta, GA. The ACC Duty Pilot desk is covered with a day and evening shift.  

Shift hours: 
  • Day: 0600-1400
  • Evening: 1400-2200
  • Night: 2200-0600

Essential Functions/Tasks:
  • Serving as the day-to-day point of contact for pilots on operational issues
  • Providing support to pilots during safety related events, flights that require MCC input, or conflict resolution
  • Coordinating cross-divisionally in the OCC/ACC for operational issues
  • Connecting pilots with CPO and other departments for problem resolution
  • Monitor communication channels to mitigate operational impacts
  • Analyze flight schedules and coordinate with ACS to identify flights that will alter our operation
  • Monitor and assist with DOT 3/4 compliance
  • Assess pushback delays for accuracy and identifying trends
