Their main job is to safely deliver the aircraft, which could involve moving new helicopters from the factory to customers, transferring aircraft for maintenance, or repositioning them for other operational needs. These pilots need to be highly skilled in navigation, flight planning, and adapting to changing weather conditions, as ferry flights may involve unfamiliar routes and airspace. Attention to detail and adherence to safety regulations are crucial in this role.
