$85,000 USD - $100,000 USD
Specific compensation will be based on candidate's experience, skills, qualifications, commercial considerations, and other job-related factors permitted by law. Job Description:
The Macro and Credit research team is responsible for rating and recommending investment strategies to both internal and external clients. Strategies range from the full spectrum of fixed income, credit, and macro strategies, both long only and in hedge fund format.
The analyst position in the team will be responsible for working with senior analysts to assess third party investment managers.
This entails developing relationships with third party asset managers, gather the necessary data, utilizing quantitative analytical tools and identifying critical drivers of performance is such strategies.
The analyst will be expected to eventually own manager ranks and sponsor ideas for client and Russell portfolios.
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in a fixed income and ability to undertake qualitative and quantitative analysis of portfolios. Ideally, experience doing analysis of money managers and respective strategies in the fixed-income universe would be an asset, and having the ability to suggest process improvements based off this knowledge is an asset. Detailed understanding of fixed income markets is necessary. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required as relationship management and client contact are core to the role. The successful candidate will have strong programming skills in Python and VBA.
This position presents the opportunity to work with a small but experienced team and presents opportunities for future advancement into an investment role.

2-4 years of investment or related experience.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree minimum with preference for masters or above. Strong preference for numerate or finance related degree.
  • Understanding of investment principles and asset classes.
  • Ability to understand and use financial theory and tools. Strong understanding of fixed-income concepts and data.
  • Strong quantitative skill set with the ability to analyze complex data
  • Programming experience is an asset: Python, SQL.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail.
  • CFA or CAIA charter or progress is desirable.
  • Previous experience in portfolio analysis including factor analysis, risk exposures, performance attribution, etc. is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, curiosity and enthusiasm to learn and grow in the role.
  • Strong relationship management skills.
  • Experience utilizing AI to enhance processes.

  • Time zone flexibility to work with colleagues based in Russell's different locations globally.

Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for collecting and organising data to enable manager research.
  • Conduct desktop analysis to form views on investment manager strategies.
  • Form agendas for onsite meetings with managers, that manage time well, integrate desktop research and extract critical information. Explain manager views and process to clients.
  • Propose investment ranks for manager strategies substantiated by knowledge.
  • Document manager views.
  • Utilise AI to enhance processes and efficiency.
  • Preparing supporting content for investment recommendations.
  • Creating investment content for internal/external use.
  • Liaise with members of the team to determine key priorities and objectives.
