The ideal candidate is a hands-on fund controller experience supporting a hedge fund with more than $3 billion in assets under management. This is a highly visible position reporting directly to the CEO and requires strong technical accounting expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced investment environment.

  • Oversee fund accounting activities, including portfolio transactions, investment activity, income, expenses, accruals, and allocations.
  • Review reconciliations between internal accounting records, the fund administrator, prime brokers, custodians, and other counterparties.
  • Monitor the accuracy and integrity of the fund’s books and records.
  • Review investor capital activity, including subscriptions, redemptions, transfers, and capital allocations.
  • Coordinate with the fund administrator and other third-party service providers to resolve accounting and reporting discrepancies.
  • Support valuation processes and ensure investments are recorded in accordance with applicable accounting policies.
  • Manage the annual audit process and serve as a primary point of contact for external auditors.
  • Support tax reporting and coordinate with external tax professionals as needed.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial reporting processes.
  • Produce timely financial and operational reporting for the CEO and senior leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting, automate processes, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience managing monthly close and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience working with Enfusion by Clearwater or another fund accounting platform.
  • Strong reconciliation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership, auditors, administrators, and other external partners.
  • Ability to work on-site in Midtown Manhattan every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience overseeing relationships with fund administrators, prime brokers, custodians, auditors, and tax professionals.
  • Experience improving or automating fund accounting and reporting processes.
  • Strong understanding of complex investment products and hedge fund structures.
  • Experience operating in a lean, high-accountability investment management environment.
