As an Hourly Meat Market Manager, you’ll be responsible for the total operation of the Meat Market Department including Customer and
Partner relations, merchandising, and financial performance.

− School of Retail Management (SORM)
− experience with USDC-HAACP programs
− leadership experience


What is the work?
Management:
− Spends majority of time using independent judgment making employment-related and business decisions, or effectively
recommending such decisions, including product- and department-related strategies, hiring, promoting, disciplining,
suspending, discharging, rewarding, or otherwise engaging in resolving Partner-related matters
− Develops / trains future leaders in the School of Retail Management (SORM) and School of Retail Leadership (SORL)
− Trains Partners on proper packaging, displaying / merchandising processes according to department SOPs
− Plans / coordinates / communicates the Corporate merchandising and marketing plan to the Store plan
− Prepares work schedules, orders product, controls inventory, monitors department budget and payroll
− Regularly performs Market Partner duties
Sales / Analytics:
− Achieves sales goals by preparing projections / forecasts, managing / reducing costs, and ensuring accuracy of invoices
− Exhibits passion for product and customer service; drives customer engagement for department
− Ensures in-stock conditions, wareroom / inventory control
Food Safety / Sanitation:
− Ensures compliance with federal, state, and H-E-B policy and standards for product food safety and sanitation
− Maintains safety / sanitation standards of equipment, department, and throughout the work area


What is your background?
− Minimum age 18 (mandatory)
− Completion of School of Retail Management (SORM)
− Experience in leadership / management
− Experience in ordering, inventory management, and shrink control
− Experience managing USDC-HAACP programs
− Food Safety certification


Do you have what it takes to be a fit as an H-E-B Meat Market Manager?
− Knowledge of department processes, SOPs, and equipment, including knives, saws, cutting techniques, packaging,
merchandising, equipment breakdown / assembly
− Advanced customer service skills
− Interpersonal and verbal / written communication skills
− Computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel), and H-E-B systems
− Ability to build, motivate, and maintain staff
− Ability to distinguish and communicate cuts of meat and cooking techniques
− Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between tasks


Can you...
− Function in a fast-paced, retail environment
− Continuously stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, squat, reach overhead, and side to side throughout shift
− Regularly work in cooler environment, and occasionally in an extreme cold environment
− Occasionally lift and carry 80-90 pounds
− Safely maneuver around moving mechanical parts
− Work extended hours and rotating schedules
