Job Summary:

The Equipment Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining various types of heavy construction equipment used in civil construction projects. This role requires a thorough understanding of operating procedures for equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, graders, and other machinery. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the crew to ensure that all tasks are completed correctly, safely, and on schedule.

Position Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy machinery, including but not limited to bulldozers, excavators, loaders, graders, and compactors, according to project needs.
  • Follow and promote safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries on the job site.
  • Interpret project plans/documents to accurately execute tasks.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and maintenance, identifying and reporting any mechanical issues or damage.
  • Load, move, and position materials, ensuring efficient and safe use of equipment.
  • Coordinate with other team members and site supervisors to maintain workflow and meet project deadlines.
  • Assist in the setup and dismantling of construction zones, barriers, and other structures as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site, adhering to environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Complete groundwork (using shovels and other hand tools) as required by the site Superintendent.

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as an equipment operator - may be asked to demonstrate during interview
  • Proficient in operating heavy equipment.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices related to heavy equipment operation.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
