Job Summary

Heavy Equipment Operator will play an integral role in the construction of commercial projects by operating a variety of heavy equipment such as but not limited to Loaders, Track Hoes, Back Hoes, etc... In certain situations, they will also assist other craft workers in their endeavors.


Schedule

Full-Time; Monday Friday (Saturdays depend on work load) (hours depend on crew and job site)


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

To be effective, Equipment Operator must:


  • Be able to operate a variety of heavy equipment
  • Locate and work in areas that involve utilities and other buried items prior to digging
  • Maintain a clean job site: pick up tools and equipment as well as secure job site each day to eliminate potential hazards
  • Be familiar with material handling and storage
  • Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed
  • Communicate effectively with Superintendent/Foreman, Safety Manager, Safety Officer or HR Manager to inform them of any potential safety issues

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of proper use of heavy equipment, materials and supplies used in construction work

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
  • Ability to repeatedly lift and carry heavy objects (50 pounds)
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing
  • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency

Education

  • Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.

Special Requirements: Must be able to pass controlled substance tests prior to and at all times during employment.
