Job Description

The HVAC Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance of all HVAC equipment and systems. The role is responsible for performing independent work in the operation, preventive maintenance, and repair of all mechanical equipment & Metasys building management system at an advanced level illustrating technical proficiency in each area.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for performing and overseeing Preventive Maintenance of York Chillers and Trane RTU from 60 ton to 4000-ton cooling plant, as well as supporting Cooling Tower and Pumps Systems to ensure the highest levels of performance and reliability
  • Troubleshoots and performs minor and major repairs of Chillers, Cooling Towers, Pumps and other HVAC equipment including Variable Air Volume boxes while maintaining the lowest levels of downtime and comfort complaints and escalates any urgent issues.
  • Manages Johnson Metasys BMS to maintain acceptable levels of temperature, humidity, CO2, outside air, etc. and to ensure employee & guest comfort throughout facility.
  • Periodically runs reports and adjust controls in Johnson Metasys BMS to promote efficiencies according to workflow and trend reports.
  • Analyzes and supervises chemical levels in water systems to ensure peak performance and longevity of Chiller system and that contracted vendor is maintaining set parameters.
  • Responds to work order requests in a timely fashion utilizing app driven scheduling system, Archibus, on mobile phone.
  • Adheres to all safety policies and procedures regarding Chiller plant operation, repair, and maintenance.
  • Works under the direct supervision of Manager, Facilities Operations and is responsible for completing any other tasks as assigned by Manager or Director as needed.
Qualifications

Basic Requirements: 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with large Chillers, Cooling Towers, Pumps, and other HVAC Equipment.
  • Refrigeration and AC certification required.
  • Exhibits strong HVAC mechanical and electrical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experienced with high end Preventive Maintenance Programs.
  • Exhibits understanding and familiarity with industrial tools, equipment and chemicals.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities required of this position which includes, but is not limited to, climbing, lifting, balancing stooping, use of manlift equipment at 40’ + heights and handling of materials. 
  • Fluent in English (written and oral).
  • Must be able to perform job at various locations interior and outside work environment with varying weather conditions.

  • Mechanical Journeyman certification preferred.
  • York chiller Certification preferred.
  • Fluency in English & Spanish is preferred.
  • Proven knowledge working in high humidity environments.
  • Works with other team members to proactively anticipate and develop solutions to client problems.
  • Clearly articulates diagnostics and resolutions in communication with clients and team members and in written work orders.
  • Exceptional communication, time management, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter who exhibits ownership on assigned tasks and who will push for solutions that solve immediate problems while building towards long-term goals.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced, dead-line driven environment.
  • Ability to build rapport with clients and manage expectations.
  • Ability to effectively be flexible in approach, and respond well to pressure.
  • Ability to lead and direct others, promote positive work environment and problem solves.
  • Process oriented, good at identifying and implementing best practices.
  • Change agent; creative and adaptable when facing challenges.
  • Always exhibits safety consciousness, follows risk assessment protocols, ensures proper use of PPE as necessary.

Additional Requirements: 

  • This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite
  • Must be willing to work in Miami, Florida
  • Willingness to travel and work overtime, and on weekends with short notice
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be “on call” 24 hours a day / 7 days a week
