Job description

VCA Powder Paws Animal Hospital, located in Park City, Utah, is seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant with previous clinic experience in a similar role to join our one-of-a-kind 6-doctor small animal practice!

Full-time: rotating Saturdays are required

Pay: $19.00 -$22.00/hr.

Location: Park City, UT

The successful candidate will be a believer in the possibilities of high quality veterinary medicine and patient care-with the expertise and technical know-how to make them happen. We cross train all technicians to work at the reception area to understand the clinic as a whole and support one another. Must be available to work half day Saturdays on a rotating basis.

In this position you will be supporting our Doctors, Technician and CSR team by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients.

Responsibilities will include:

-Attentive and warm customer service in person, over the phone/text, and via email,

-Management of busy phone lines,

-Scheduling of appointments and surgeries,

-Entering labs and following up with clients,

-Filling prescriptions,

-Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging

-Learning veterinary diets and educating clients about these

-Checking in/out patients for appointments, surgeries, acupuncture and rehab,

-Keeping detailed notes regarding clients and patients,

-Communicating with other industry professionals,

-Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness,

-Assisting with charts and entering charges,

-Handling and restraining dogs and cats for procedures

-Assisting surgery and veterinary technicians with restraining animals, administering vaccines, fluids, nail trims, anal gland expression, blood draws and more,

-Use devices to perform hands free radiographs,

-Preparing surgical packs, inducing and monitoring anesthesia

-Cleaning instruments and surgical equipment, walking hospitalized animals and cleaning kennels.
