Primary Purpose of the Organization:
The College of Business and Economics (BCBE) is accredited by AACSB International and provides an attractive and collegial academic environment with a strong focus on teaching, research, service, and community relationships. Broadwell College of Business and Economics at Fayetteville State University seeks to hire an Assistant faculty member for a 9-month, tenure-track position in Healthcare Management/Administration beginning Spring 2027. The selected candidate will be expected to teach at the undergraduate level but may also be required to teach graduate courses. The selected candidate will help develop and expand existing programs, concentrations, and minors. The candidate will become a member of the Healthcare Administration faculty that serves approximately 200 undergraduate healthcare majors. Engagement in scholarly research and community and professional service is required.
Primary Purpose of the Position:
Teach classes in health policy, healthcare management, risk management, practice management, healthcare quality, healthcare finance, research methods, data analysis, and related disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach and deliver high-quality instructions in undergraduate courses and graduate courses as needed.
  • Develop a robust research program involving collaboration with students, faculty, and perform scholarly activities consistent with rank.
  • Contribute to ongoing programmatic development of the Broadwell College of Business and Economics.
  • Serve as an academic advisor and/or student organization advisor for undergraduate students, guiding their professional and personal development as well as their academic progress.
  • Participate fully in AACSB accreditation efforts.
  • Actively participate in departmental, college, University, community, and professional service consistent with the goals of the Broadwell College of Business and Economics.
  • Commitment to contribute to the strategic initiatives of the college.
  • Commitment to maintaining a productive program of scholarship in technology-infused business education.
  • Grant participation and curriculum development related to industry-specific certifications.
  • Engage in research and training activities at the outreach centers of the college.
  • Willingness and ability to collaborate and consistently demonstrate high levels of collegiality.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in a Health-related field from an AACSB-accredited university or a Doctoral degree in Healthcare Management/Administration, Healthcare Services Management.
  • Training or work experience in Hospital Management, Practice Management, Health Services Management, Healthcare Risk, and Compliance would be strongly desired.
  • A minimum of two years of university-level teaching experience is expected for the Assistant Professor rank.
  • Evidence, either by record or potential, of the ability to teach and produce scholarly publications in the field of Healthcare Administration, Health Services Research, Healthcare Management, Practice Management, Healthcare Risk Management, and/or a related field.

Knowledge skills and abilities:
Skilled and dedicated teacher with a student-oriented teaching philosophy who is willing to develop real-world and community projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience teaching Healthcare Risk and Hospital/Practice Management courses
  • Relevant professional experience (2+ years) in a management, administrative, or clinical leadership role within the healthcare industry (e.g., long-term care facility, group practice, or hospital).
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CPPM, CMM, RHIA/RHIT, CPHIMS).
