Job description
The College of Medicine in the Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center is accepting applications for a non-tenure track Open Rank Professor. This full-time position includes clinical care, leadership and administration, research and innovation, teaching medical students, pediatric and medicine-pediatric residents and fellows, as well as other academic pursuits and research opportunities. Additional responsibilities include providing inpatient and outpatient Pediatric Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation consultation and care at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This position serves as Chief of Pediatric Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and provides supervision of medical students, pediatric and medicine-pediatric residents and fellows.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include clinical care, including supervision of medical students, residents and fellows. The successful applicant will also help to provide interdisciplinary training, community engagement, and scholarly activities (e.g., clinical, translational, quality, or community research). The division leads and participates in the care and treatment of specialized populations with unique needs, such as children with complex movement disorders, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, brain injury and neurotrauma, spinal cord injury, amputations and congenital limb deficiencies, any other diagnosis affecting daily function. Procedural capabilities include botulinum toxin and phenol injections, intrathecal baclofen pump management, ultrasound-guided injections, spasticity assessment and tone management, gait and motion analysis.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: MD, DO, or equivalent degree.
EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years post-fellowship experience with progressive leadership responsibilities. Distinguished record of clinical excellence, scholarly achievement, and administrative success. Demonstrated success in leading collaborative, multidisciplinary teams.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS: Board-eligible/board-certified in Pediatric Rehabilitation & Physical Medicine. Must be able to obtain a State of Tennessee medical license.
