Job Summary:

This position supports daily lab operations by helping set up, maintain, and pack away equipment for training exercises. Working under the guidance of the Lab Coordinator, this role provides basic technical support and assists with general administrative tasks for the Health Sciences Division.
This position is temporary part-time, not to exceed 28 hours per week.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Assist with quickly restarting a lagging software program or manually input vital signs to keep a student's session running smoothly.
Assist with determining if a broken mannequin part can be fixed using basic tools or if the problem needs to be reported to the Director.
Assist with choosing which expired clinical items are safe to reuse for student practice to save department budget.
Assist with selecting the right combination of basic ingredients (like food coloring or makeup) to safely create realistic wounds without staining expensive equipment.
Assist in deciding where to place standard props or medical charts in the room so the setup matches the instructor's lesson plan.
Assist with deciding when to step in and gently correct a student who is using a piece of equipment incorrectly.
Assist with explaining a technical feature in plain, simple terms to a faculty member who is new to the lab.
Assist with cleaning up a morning lab and setting up an afternoon lab to meet strict deadlines.
Assist lab supervisor with inventory shortages and notify lab coordinators before an upcoming class.

Competencies/KSAs:

Prepares, maintains, and packs away simulation equipment under direct guidance.
Utilizes standard computer software to assist with data entry and collection.
Organizes laboratory materials to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations.
Provides basic administrative support to help meet Health Sciences division goals.
Works closely with colleagues and faculty to foster a positive training environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Completed High School Diploma or completed GED ($19 per hour)
Completed associate degree ($21 per hour)
Completed associate degree and preferred qualifications ($22.50 per hour)
Completed bachelor degree ($23 per hour)
Completed bachelors degree and preferred qualifications ($24 per hour)
Capable of safely lifting and moving up to 50 pounds regularly.
Experience learning and troubleshooting everyday technology and medical equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience to simulation labs or healthcare environments.
Readiness to learn simulation tools (like Sim Capture, Laerdal, or CAE) and standard audio-visual equipment.
CHSOS certification.
Two years of experience or certification in related fields, including:
EMT, LPN, MA, CNA, or Surgical Technologist roles.
Information technology, AV support, or equipment troubleshooting backgrounds.

Retirement

Pikes Peak State College participates in Colorado Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA)  contribution rates. State employees are required to a mandatory contribution of a percentage of their salary to the plan, and the college contributes a percentage as well. While you are enrolled in PERA, you do not pay Social Security. In addition, there are supplemental retirement plans available through three other vendors.

Leave Programs

Temporary hourly employees earn one hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked.

Temporary hourly employees are eligible for the Colorado Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI).
