About this Position
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable data solutions that support enterprise analytics, reporting, and business intelligence initiatives. This role will be responsible for building and optimizing ETL pipelines, data marts, and modern lakehouse architectures within a Databricks and AWS environment. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Python, SQL, cloud-based data platforms, and data modeling, along with experience collaborating with business and technical stakeholders to deliver high-quality data products.
The salary range for this role is $130k - $135k.

Responsibilities & Qualifications
Responsibilities
  • Design and implement ETL processes and data architecture to support the correct functioning of the analytics environment, as well as client and third-party reporting environments and dashboards
  • Own end-to-end design, development, and maintenance of data marts to support reporting, analytics, and business intelligence needs
  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to support the development, enhancement, and effective utilization of lakehouse and medallion architectures
  • Perform the design, development, and extension of data marts, metadata, data models and data products, aligning with organizational data strategy
  • Ensure all data engineering and data pipeline code artifacts are maintained in a version control system
  • Assist with the integration of data solutions into applications and downstream systems
  • Participate in Agile processes including Scrum
  • Use AI tools such as GitHub Copilot to assist in rapid prototyping and development
  • Mentoring of junior engineers, including development best-practices, code reviews and ensuring appropriate usage of Jira

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Information Technology, with strong hands-on experience in Data Engineering and enterprise data solutions
  • Hands-on data engineering experience with Databricks, preferably within the AWS ecosystem
  • Advanced understanding of the Databricks platform, including notebook development, workflow/job orchestration, data ops (i.e. IaC, DABs), cluster management, and scalable data processing
  • Experience with AWS services such as Amazon S3, EC2, Lambda, IAM and other cloud-native data technologies
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, and other modern programming languages as needed
  • Advanced knowledge of database modeling, particularly with IBM DB2, Databricks and Mongo DB
  • Advanced SQL skills, including query tuning and performance optimization
  • Experience with relational databases such as SQL Server and IBM DB2
  • Proficiency with debugging, troubleshooting, and applying appropriate design patterns
  • Strong understanding of data engineering principles, including data ingestion, transformation, pipeline development, and data movement
  • Experience with Data Governance platforms, such as Collibra

Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
  • Experience with streaming platforms such as Kafka, AWS Kinesis
  • Experience with BI/reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Experience with data virtualization technologies
  • Experience creating and maintaining test data for lower environments
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Terraform is a plus
  • Experience with GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or similar AI tooling
  • Knowledge of Palantir would be a plus
  • Comfortable working with analysts and business stakeholders to understand data needs and requirements
