Job description

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Exercise Physiologist
  • Job Type: Full-Time
  • Location: Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Responsibilities:

  • Provides appropriate care for rehab patients per department standards.
    • Assesses the extent of patient abilities and limitations by reviewing medical records and physician’s notes.
    • Administers pre-exercise testing assessment and test preparation.
    • Uses testing equipment, protocol selection, indications, contraindications, and termination criteria for graded exercise testing.
    • Perform manual measurements to monitor patients, including but not limited to blood pressure, oxygen saturation, blood glucose, BMI, and waist/hip circumference.
    • Monitors and records patients’ sessions on the telemetry system.
    • Records, analyzes, and interprets results of tests and prepares appropriate exercise prescriptions as directed by the overseeing Medical Directors.
    • Administers therapeutic exercises and other techniques designed to provide improved functional capacity, exercise tolerance, exercise endurance, muscle strength and endurance, and coordination to rehabilitating patient populations.
    • Evaluates patient's hemodynamic, and symptomatic response to exercise, and assess the appropriateness of responses as they relate to exercise intensity and endurance.
    • Designs, implements, supervises, and evaluates outcomes for exercise services in conjunction with multi-disciplinary team members.
    • Provide educational materials for patients.
    • Assists in coordinating the daily operations of the rehab program as well as planning for long-term growth.
  • Documents the patient record per departmental standards.
    • Documents the session, including but not limited to: vital signs at rest and during exercise, patient’s response to prescription, any side effects, and patient/family teaching.
    • Reviews physician order and patients’ chart including appropriate lab work, diagnostics, consultations, and nursing assessment/notes.
    • Completes billing promptly, usually within 24 hours of service.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise and Sports Science or Kinesiology, required
  • At least one (1) year of related experience, preferred
  • Basic EKG Interpretation experience: 12-lead EKG Interpretation experience, strongly preferred
  • Meditech/Expanse EMR system experience, preferred
  • Current BLS
  • Current ACLS, or obtained within six months of hiring date
  • Certified as an Exercise Specialist, preferred (Ex: ACSM-CEP, ACSM-EP, AACVPR-CCRP, etc.)

Compensation:

  • $25.00 – 28.75 per hour, depending on education and experience.
  • Discretionary bonuses, relocation expenses, merit increase, market adjustments, recognition bonuses, and other forms of discretionary compensation may be available.
