Position Summary
This position reports to the Head Rowing coach and is responsible to assist in all phases of a competitive intercollegiate rowing program in compliance with NCAA conference and institutional rules and regulations.
This is a stipend position with additional earning opportunities for individuals with additional certifications and qualifications. Details can be discussed in person or electronically for interested individuals.
Principal Accountabilities
- Effectively assist in coaching a competitive rowing program (experienced and novice athletes) in a manner, which promotes sportsmanship among athletes, ensuring compliance with all NCAA, CAA conference and institutional rules and regulations.
- Effectively assist in recruiting qualified student-athletes to participate in the University's athletic program, and effectively promote Bryant University academic and athletic programs to potential students.
- Ensure that athletes associated with the rowing program are and remain eligible under NCAA and conference guidelines.
- Assist in developing and implementing clinic(s), summer camp(s), and on-campus tryouts and training trips.
- Effectively review and monitor student athlete academic progress; counsel where appropriate and refer athletes to available University resources. Interact closely with faculty to monitor progress. Ensure compliance with relevant rules and regulations. Maintain an electronic follow-up system.
- Establish and maintain good personal relationships with student athletes, parents, staff, guidance counselors, the Community and the media.
- Assist Head Coach with equipment and facility upkeep and minor repairs when applicable.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
This position is filled best by an individual with an undergraduate degree and/or USRowing Coaching Certification and related collegiate, masters or junior competitive rowing experience, with a preference towards experience in recruiting, coaching and counseling student-athletes. Knowledge and skill should also include experience in identifying at-risk students and enrolling them in appropriate services; excellent oral and written communication skills; experience motivating and supervising athletes and students, ability to mentor and lead non-traditional student-athletes and a thorough understanding of and experience with NCAA D1 rules and regulations. The ability to manage multiple tasks is essential. Knowledge of related computer applications is important. A valid driver's license is required for travel. This position has non-standard hours.
