Job Title: Head Flyman – Part-Time / Contract

Location: Ontario, Canada
Start Date: As soon as possible
Schedule: Flexible, Part-Time / Contract Basis
Compensation: Based on experience

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Head Flyman to join our technical crew on a part-time or contract basis. The successful candidate will have proven experience with theatrical rigging systems and a strong commitment to safety and professionalism. This position offers flexibility for individuals not currently engaged in full-time employment and who are available to work on a project-by-project basis.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the safe operation of all fly systems during rehearsals, performances, and technical runs.
  • Coordinate rigging and movement of scenic elements, lighting, and other flown equipment.
  • Work closely with the Technical Director and Production Manager to execute rigging plans.

Requirements:
  • Must not be employed in a full-time position elsewhere.
  • Must hold or be willing to obtain the following certifications as per Ontario theatre and workplace safety standards:
    • Working at Heights.
    • Fall Protection.
    • Elevated Work Platform (EWP) / Aerial Lift.
  • Strong knowledge of safety procedures and rigging protocols.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for travel to various venues. (Bonus!).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in theatres.
  • Familiarity with stage management and production processes.
