Title: HEAD COACH - ATHLETICS (JV)
Position Type: Supplement
Primary Function:
Position is responsible for assisting the head coach with organizing the program at the assigned school. Position assists with conducting practices, motivating students, and instructing student athletes in game strategies and techniques.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Prior successful coaching experience at the secondary level preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle details accurately.
  • Ability to work effectively and maintain composure under pressure.
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.

Performance Responsibilities:
  • Assists the head coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the designated sport.
  • Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach.
  • Assesses player's skills, monitors players during competition and practice, and keeps the head coach informed of the athletic performance of students.
  • Develops fundamental skills needed for player growth.
  • Assists with determining game strategy.
  • Assists the head coach with supervising athletes during practices and competition.
  • Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury, working collaboratively with the Athletic Trainer.
  • Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
  • Follows established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
  • Follows established weight room maintenance and safety.
  • Distributes equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students as directed by the head coach.
  • Assists the head coach with submitting a list of award winners at the end of the season as requested.
  • Participates in special activities to include parent's night, banquets, award nights, and pep rallies.
  • Performs support tasks such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records.
  • Completes all student-athlete safety training requirements and works collaboratively with the Athletic Trainer.
  • Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
Must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; to bend, to stoop, to sit on the floor, to climb stairs, to walk and to reach overhead.

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of non-licensed personnel.
