Accountant - Lead (Fixed Income Accounting)
  • Richmond, VA (Hybrid)
  • Pay: $47.50-$50.50/hour

Alphanumeric is hiring an Accountant - Lead to join a leading organization with a long-standing reputation in the financial and insurance industries.

If you're an accounting professional with experience in investment accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close activities, this is an opportunity to work alongside a collaborative Investment Accounting team responsible for supporting one of the organization's largest investment portfolios.

What You'll Do:

As part of the Fixed Income Accounting team, you'll help ensure investment transactions are accurately recorded and reported in accordance with U.S. GAAP and U.S. Statutory accounting standards.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Review accounting system outputs to ensure proper accounting treatment for fixed income investments.
  • Perform transaction processing, account reconciliations, and balance validations.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, reconciliations, income allocations, pricing analytics, and financial reporting.
  • Support internal and external U.S. GAAP and Statutory reporting requirements.
  • Execute and maintain SOX controls for assigned accounting processes.
  • Research accounting guidance and identify opportunities to improve processes and operational efficiency.
  • Analyze workflows, recommend improvements, and help streamline accounting operations.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Investment teams to support business objectives.
  • Anticipate issues, resolve accounting exceptions, and contribute to continuous process improvement.
What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline.
  • CPA or other professional certification preferred.
  • 2-5 years of accounting or finance experience..
  • Experience with month-end and quarter-end close processes.
  • Strong knowledge of account reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Experience with SOX controls and internal control procedures.
  • Advanced analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Copilot.
