Job description

Build the software that powers a global electronic trading platform.
As a Software Engineer at Wolverine Execution Services (WEX), you'll design and develop the applications and services that support our client-facing trading platform. From order management and execution to market connectivity and operational tools, you'll help build reliable, scalable software that enables institutional trading firms to operate with confidence.

You'll work alongside experienced software engineers, traders, and product specialists to solve complex technical challenges and deliver solutions that have a direct impact on our clients. You'll contribute throughout the software development lifecycle; from design and implementation to testing, deployment, and ongoing enhancement.
This role is ideal for engineers with a solid foundation in C++ who are eager to deepen their expertise in distributed systems and enterprise software development. You'll own meaningful features, participate in architectural and design discussions, and collaborate with teammates who value thoughtful engineering, maintainable code, and continuous improvement.
At WEX, engineers are trusted to make an impact. You'll work on production systems used by financial institutions around the world while growing your technical skills through mentorship, collaboration, and hands-on experience. If you enjoy solving challenging engineering problems, building software that customers depend on, and working with a team that values curiosity and technical excellence, we'd love to hear from you.
  • Collaborate with engineers, business analysts, and support personnel to build reliable and scalable trading software
  • Contribute to system design, implementation, and code reviews
  • Develop and enhance C++ components within the primary trading system and supporting systems
  • Troubleshoot and improve system stability in production environments
  • Continuously learn
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of professional software development experience
  • Experience working with C++ (professional or significant academic/project experience)
  • Solid understanding of algorithms and data structures
  • Exposure to multi-threaded or concurrent programming concepts
  • Curiosity, strong problem-solving skills, and a desire to grow both technical and industry knowledge
  • Clear communicator with both technical peers and business stakeholders
Our flat organizational structure promotes teamwork across the Firm and offers easy access to senior staff. While we work exceptionally well as a team in the office, our bonds are further strengthened through company events, activities and giving back. Volleyball, soccer, hockey, 5K runs, picnic, parties, and trivia nights provide friendly competition and build better relationships. By getting out of our usual environment and doing out-of-the-ordinary things together, we foster creativity and broaden our imaginations to accomplish new challenges.

Benefits:
  • Highly competitive salary & bonus opportunity
  • Generous paid time off and flexible scheduling
  • 100% coverage of medical, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits for single coverage
  • Generous Paid Parental Leave
  • Retirement Plans: 401K and Roth 401K
  • Profit sharing plan
  • Long- and short-term disability
Additional Perks:
  • Free breakfast and lunch from our in-house kitchen with rotating menus (including snacks!)
  • On-site gym with a subsidized membership
  • Frequent company outings
  • Opportunity to give back to organizations that help individuals in need in the Chicagoland area
Professional Development:
  • In-house education team - classes and resources are offered for continuous learning opportunities
  • Mentorship Program through your first six months of employment
The base compensation range for this role is approximately $100,000-$140,000 contingent on experience. Wolverine Trading's total compensation model includes base salary and an annual discretionary bonus.
