Description The Youth Cheer Tumbling Instructor, under direction of the Head Cheer Coach, is responsible for teaching basic tumbling skills to youth participants in a safe, positive, and encouraging environment. The coach will focus on developing proper technique, building confidence, and promoting teamwork while ensuring participant safety and enjoyment. Essential Job Functions Plan and lead age-appropriate tumbling instruction for beginner and intermediate participants.
Teach proper progressions for fundamental skills such as: o Forward and backward rolls o Cartwheels o Round-offs o Handstands o Bridges and backbend kickovers (as appropriate) o Basic jumps, flexibility, and conditioning Ensure proper spotting techniques and maintain a safe practice environment. Modify instruction to meet varying skill levels and abilities. Encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, confidence, and a positive attitude.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience participating in or coaching cheerleading, gymnastics, tumbling, or a related activity. Knowledge of proper tumbling progressions and safety practices. Ability to work positively with children ages 5-14.
Strong communication and leadership skills. CPR, First Aid, and concussion training (or ability to obtain prior to the season) preferred. Must be available Tuesday evening and/or Thursday evenings from 5:15pm-7:15pm from August 18 - October 15.
