Wieland is hiring a Head Machinist for the Lathe Department. The Head Machinist will be responsible for programming, set-up and monitoring lathe machines to customer specifications. This role is located in Roseville, Michigan and will be fully on-site.
Pay: $33.00 - $37.00 per hour
Schedule: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
Pay Schedule: Bi-weekly
Responsibilities
Head Machinist Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for setup of all bar fed production lathes and chucking lathes
  • Writes all programs for lathe department
  • Purchases/Modifies tooling required for specific jobs as needed
  • Schedules all orders on Lathes to achieve on-time delivery
  • Maintains the department's machinery and tooling
  • Setup, calibrate, and use analog & digital inspection instruments.
  • Monitors quality of products machined on all lathes
  • Schedules the saw department for production bars to meet schedule
  • Collaborates with Mill Department for secondary operations, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Head Machinist Qualifications:
  • Associates degree or work experience equivalent
  • Experience machining or a technical trade
  • Able to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to follow verbal & written instructions
  • Ability to perform computations
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to make work-related decisions based on deadlines and customer specifications
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, CAD software and setup specs for production including tooling
