Job Title
Football Coordinator - Defensive
Nature of Work
Analyzes performance and instructs student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition. Recruit student athletes. Observes players while they perform to determine need for individual or team improvement. Coach players individually or in groups, demonstrating techniques.
Examples of Work Performed
1. Represent PSC in a positive manner with a high degree of integrity and quality;
2. Promote and support PSC and its mission;
3. Promote and support PSC Athletic Department's program, mission and goals;
4. Assist Football program within policies of PSC, HAAC, and the NAIA;
5. Assist the Head Coach in planning and operation of the program;
6. Provide leadership in implementation of the program;
7. Advise student athletes in their major field of study as it relates to NAIA and HAAC eligibility and progress toward degree requirements;
8. Responsible for all phases of the defense;
9. Supervise coaching assistants, student coaches and volunteer coaches;
10. Assist with the football recruitment of student athletes by coordinating the recruitment process;
11. Develop and maintain a system for recruiting, monitoring and follow up with student-athletes, parents and coaches;
12. Devise strategies for recruitment outreach to high school and junior college programs;
13. Assist the Head Coach with Athletic Scholarship fundraising, make athlete scholarship recommendations in consult with the Head Football Coach;
14. Organize day to day scheduling of defensive practice planning and coaching assignments;
15. Prepare defensive game plan and provide input to special teams and offensive game plans;
16. Evaluate the performance of defensive assistant coaches, student assistants and volunteer coaches and provide guidance to them to improve their skill sets;
17. Monitor the ATP program and follow up with the Head Football Coach in the implementation and follow through of all academic policies;
18. Follow up with assistant coaches in securing attendance of student athletes at all mandatory meetings and activities;
19. Other duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree plus coaching experience. Must have knowledge of NCAA or NAIA (as applicable) rules and regulations.
