Assistant Football Coach - Defensive Coordinator
Spectrum High School Elk River, MN

Spectrum High School is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Assistant Football Coach - Defensive Coordinator to join our dynamic coaching staff for the upcoming season. This position provides an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about working with student-athletes and contributing to the development of the Football Program.

Position Overview:
The Assistant Football Coach - Defensive Coordinator  will work closely with the Head Coach in organizing and leading practices, developing and implementing training plans, and supporting student-athletes in their development. The coach will help create a positive and competitive team environment and will be responsible for assisting in both the athletic and academic growth of athletes.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of daily practice plans and training sessions.
  • Help with event coaching, focusing on the individual needs of each athlete.
  • Lead warm-ups, drills, and conditioning sessions.
  • Foster a positive and supportive team culture.
  • Help with meet preparation, including logistics, event management, and coaching during competitions.
  • Provide feedback and evaluations to athletes to improve performance.
  • Work closely with the Head Coach and other coaching staff to ensure the program's success and growth.
  • Help monitor and track the progress and performance of athletes.
  • Assist with the development of student-athletes' academic and athletic goals.
  • Attend team meetings and communicate with athletes, parents, and school staff as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous coaching experience in the sport (preferred but not required).
  • A passion for developing athletes and promoting teamwork.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate and encourage student-athletes.
  • Must maintain certification with the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL).

Position Details:

  • Start Date: August 2026
  • Season Length: August - November 2026
  • Compensation: $2,497
  • Hours: Practice typically after school hours, with additional time required for meets and events.
