Ideal candidates will possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree and will have at least three years of successful coaching experience at the high school or college level and be able to support Gonzaga's mission of building young men who are religious, loving, intellectually competent, open to growth, and committed to doing justice.

The Varsity Head Coach serves as program director. Currently, the Fencing program consists of one team that competes in matches at the discretion of the Head Coach. Fencing is recognized as a spring sport at Gonzaga; however, opportunities exist year-round for the coach to schedule within the rules set forth by Gonzaga's Athletic Department. In addition to scheduling, other duties include working with the Athletic Director to hire assistant coaches.

Knowledge of the Washington, DC regional fencing scene, both interscholastic and at the club level, is preferred. $5,000-$8,000, plus additional compensation opportunities, depending on experience and qualifications.

Gonzaga College High School is committed to leadership in multicultural education and a culturally diverse faculty and staff. The school therefore seeks applications from candidates who will contribute to an atmosphere in which all are valued and supported. Gonzaga is a Catholic, Jesuit, college-preparatory school founded in 1821 for young men in grades nine through twelve, located in Washington, DC. Gonzaga offers a challenging college-preparatory curriculum that provides a broad range of major course offerings, including honors and advanced placement courses, complemented by a selection of electives and co-curricular activities. Retreats and Christian service, in the Jesuit tradition, are the hallmark of a Gonzaga education. There are eighteen interscholastic sports teams at Gonzaga, as well as musical and dramatic performing arts ensembles, and many clubs and student organizations.

A resume and a cover letter are required parts of the application process. Cover letters should highlight relevant experience and particular areas of expertise in the sport, provide a short statement of coaching philosophy, and demonstrate how said experience, education, and philosophy would add value to the community at Gonzaga College High School. Materials will be accepted on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
