Ochsner Health Baton Rouge is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible PEDIATRIC CARDIOLOGIST to join a busy outpatient based pediatric cardiology practice as a partner to two experienced pediatric cardiologists. The role is a primarily outpatient pediatric cardiology position with some inpatient responsibilities consisting of mainly NICU care and inpatient pediatric cardiology consults at several local hospitals. The position requires a strong background in transthoracic echo. Fetal echo experience is preferred. J-1 visa sponsorship is available.

The Pediatric Cardiology clinic is based at the Shaquille O'Neal Pediatric Super Clinic inside the Ochsner Medical Complex - The Grove. The fifth floor of the complex is dedicated to treating kids, with a full complement of pediatricians and pediatric specialists. The Ochsner Health Baton Rouge Pediatric Cardiology practice is closely affiliated with the New Orleans based Ochsner Hospital for Children Division of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Ochsner Children's provides services for all pediatric cardiac sub-specialties including heart failure/transplant, EP, ACHD, interventional cardiology, imaging including echocardiography and cardiac MRI and CT, and fetal cardiology, comprehensive single ventricle program, and neurodevelopmental clinic. The heart center includes 21 cardiologists, 3 congenital heart surgeons, 6 cardiac intensivists practicing in a dedicated pediatric 12 bed cardiac intensive care unit and 3 pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists. The program performs approximately 250 cardiac surgeries, 400 cardiac catheterizations (75% interventional) and 19,000 ambulatory visits at 15 locations across Louisiana and Mississippi per year. Our heart center has been ranked by US New and World Report for the last 7 years and is the only ranked program in Louisiana; survival after cardiac surgery for our most complex patients (STS STAT 4 and 5 categories) is in the top 10% of programs reporting to STS.

Our comprehensive Ochsner Children's program is the region's leading integrated provider of multispecialty care for newborns, infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. We offer a full range of pediatric complex specialty services including, liver and bone marrow transplantation, a comprehensive surgical sub-specialty group, advanced GI and Hepatology, advanced spine surgery, Hematology-Oncology and AYA Oncology, Cleft Palate/Cranio-Facial Surgery and the region's only comprehensive multidisciplinary developmental pediatrics center.

Ochsner Children's currently cares for patients in a 67-bed Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a 14-bed PICU, a 12-bed pediatric CV-ICU, a NAEC-accredited level IV 4 bed Pediatric EMU and a 44-bed pediatric acute unit, with a dedicated pediatric emergency room, supported by a 24-7 dedicated pediatric and neonatal transport team utilizing rotary and fixed wing as well as ground transport. And we recently began construction on the building of a new, comprehensive, dedicated 5-story Children's Hospital on our main campus in New Orleans, with expected opening at the start of 2028.

In addition to direct patient care, Ochsner Children's Hospital has an ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program and is also responsible for teaching pediatric residents from the Tulane-Ochsner Pediatric Residency program as well as medical students from both Tulane and the University of Queensland, Australia. Ochsner Health and Xavier University of Louisiana recently established a joint allopathic College of Medicine, the Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine (XOCOM) which will enroll its first class in Fall 2027. Our faculty have an opportunity for academic appointment at the University of Queensland and XOCOM, participate in numerous research studies and multi-center trials, and publish hundreds of research papers annually.
