Job description

About the Role:

Lakeside School, an independent 5-12 coeducational day school located in North Seattle is currently recruiting for a Baseball Head Coach. The season will begin in March and conclude in mid-May, 2027.

Responsibilities

This person, reporting to the director of athletics, will join an athletics program that includes 26 varsity teams, most of which have both sub-varsity and middle-school counterparts. The girls basketball program includes two high school-level teams and at least four Middle School teams. This person is responsible for coaching the varsity team as well as oversight and coordination of the entire program. Specific responsibilities include:

  1. Compliance with all Lakeside School, Metro League, CYO, and WIAA policies and procedures.
  2. Commitment to providing supports, messaging, actions, and opportunities to a diverse student body who come to school with different and evolving lived experiences and levels of preparation as athletes.
  3. Supervision and instruction of student-athletes during team activities.
  4. Maintenance and inventory of team equipment and apparel.
  5. Management of the team budget and hiring processes.
  6. Development of the long-term vision for the boys basketball program (scope & sequence);
  7. Oversight of practice plans and culture setting for all teams.
  8. Commitment to being a presence on campus all year.
  9. Support of multi-sport participation for student-athletes.
  10. Promotion of balanced achievement in all areas of school life for student-athletes.

Requirements and Qualifications

  1. At least 25 years of age, have a clean driving record and a valid Washington state driver’s license.
  2. Be available for all practices and competitions from 3 pm daily during their coaching season with availability on weekends as required.
  3. Experience coaching basketball at the club, high school or college level is required.
  4. Possess or obtain prior to the start of the season current First Aid/CPR certification.
  5. Satisfactorily complete two criminal background checks.

Compensation and Benefits
Stipend range: $8,000-$10,000
We offer a stipend schedule that compares favorably with peer schools and clubs both locally and nationally. Coaching stipends are paid in monthly installments during the primary competition seasons. Other benefits include Lakeside Athletics apparel and access to funds for professional development.
