Job Description

This position supports manufacturing by performing gas fitting, plumbing, welding and layout on various processes throughout the plants, in a safe and efficient manner.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designs gas systems. Installs and repairs welded and non-welded gas service lines, from mains to, and including the user area, equipment, and facility, following state and local codes, and all safe practices required by Gasfitter I license.
  • Installs, replaces, repairs, and tests all regulating and controlling devices (excluding electronic and programmable controllers), associated with installed gas systems at all Lewiston, Idaho plants, following established safe practices associated with Gasfitter work and using tools, equipment and test instruments to assure installations and repairs are leak free and safe. Follows blueprints and written specifications.
  • Designs, installs, repairs, and tests steam systems and auxiliary equipment, including pipe welding and boiler repair. Installs, and replaces regulating valves, gaskets, traps, etc., following safe practices and codes as regulated by state and local inspectors. Follows blueprints and written specifications.
  • Rebuilds, repairs, installs, and tests boilers, heat-treat units, aging and stress-relief ovens and leadpots, including replacing or relining fire brick in units. Installs and tests gas supply to units as needed.
  • Designs, installs, repairs, and tests water heating, water supply, and drainage systems, including all pipes, fittings and fixtures, according to blueprints, specifications and state/or local codes.
  • Assembles, and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipe composed of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastic, glass, and other materials produced in a variety of schedules and designs.
  • Installs, and repairs fixtures, such as steam boilers, water heaters, fire control systems, parts washers, and tumblers, pressure wash systems, sinks, toilets, drinking fountains, drain systems, and wastewater treatment systems.
  • Plans, lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs sheet metal parts, equipment, and products, using knowledge of metallurgy, machining, and layout techniques, using various hand and power tools, machines and equipment according to blueprints, sketches, specifications and codes.
  • Welds as needed. Plans, lays out, fabricates, assembles various equipment, assemblies, parts, or structures, using various welding methods, to produce or repair the desired product, according to specifications or blueprints, and knowledge of high-pressure gas main welding, MIG, TIG, stick, oxy-acetylene, and plastic welding, in all positions, and thorough knowledge of metallurgy and metal structural properties when welded.
  • Provides work direction, oversees progress of tasks, and inspects finish work of any personnel assisting with plumbing, pipefitting, gas fitting, and/or welding.
  • Assists maintenance personnel in moving equipment, and performing various other tasks, as assigned and as workload permits.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Must be able to read, write, and perform basic math calculations and be able to recognize improbable results.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be capable of operating and maintaining all machines, equipment, and processes within the department.
  • Must be able to drive a forklift safely.
  • Must have a good safety record.
  • Must have good housekeeping and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently without continual supervision.
  • Must hold Journey level Plumbers state and local licenses.
  • Must be proficient with MIG, TIG, Stick, Oxy-Acetylene welding on materials including but not limited to stainless steels, chrome-moly and mild steel.

Work Environment:

Employee work assignments may include tasks working with and/or exposure to potentially hazardous areas, including flammables and explosives. Safety training is provided to all employees to ensure compliance with company and federal regulations.

Pay Range:

$40.66 - $45.57

The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
