Job description

SUMMARY

Sets up, adjusts, checks out programming (on CNC models) and operates electric tube benders to perform a complex series of bending operations. Works to close tolerances and specifications requiring a high degree of skill, a broad knowledge of bending techniques and familiarity with bender operational procedures. Proceeds with minimum direction and supervision; instructions and guidance are provided on programming and operational difficulties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

Program all machine axis’s’ based on X,Y,Z, or Y,B,C data.

Program, coordinate or operate any support equipment associated with primary machine.

Diagnose and adjust needed changes using romer, layout, check gage, assembly fixture, or any other required measuring method.

Using document(s) listed above determine: what machine is to be utilized, how parts are to be run, confirm part number, quantity to be produced. Also confirm that the engineering change number corresponds with the work order, layout, and print.

Move materials as required, manually or mechanically.

Selects and secures proper bend tooling, holding clamp, die block, and/or pressure die to machine. Adjust to proper placement and pressures. Sets mandrel and wiper die. Also select recorded computer program if applicable.

Positions and clamps end stops on machine to set specified location of bend.

Inserts or screws plug stops into guide wheel to set specified degree of bend. (Manual Machine)

Lubricates workpiece with oil.

Locks holding clamp and guide clamp onto workpiece.

Uses hand powered bending machine on appropriate size material.

Mechanically or manually bends tube or pipe around bend tooling.

Flares tube ends if required
