Working under the direction of the Foreman and Supervisor, the Laborer will support a missile boring crew in the installation of underground telecommunications infrastructure. This position plays a key role in safely completing underground utility construction projects by assisting with site preparation, equipment operation, material handling, and restoration activities.
This is a full-time position offering competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, a 401(k), and opportunities for career growth.
This position is based out of Tacoma, Washington.
The pay for this role is $20.00-29.00 an hour depending on experience.
YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO :

• Assist the missile boring crew with the installation of underground telecommunications conduit, cable, and related infrastructure.
• Hand dig potholes, trenches, and utility exposures as required.
• Safely use hand tools including shovels, picks, rakes, tampers, and other construction equipment.
• Assist with loading, unloading, staging, and transporting construction materials and equipment.
• Operate gas-powered equipment such as cut-off saws, compactors (jumping jacks), generators, and drills.
• Set up and maintain safe work zones, including traffic control devices and barricades.
• Assist with locating and exposing existing underground utilities.
• Perform conduit placement, backfilling, compaction, and site restoration.
• Maintain a clean and organized job site by removing debris and excess materials.
• Assist with equipment setup, cleanup, and daily inspections.
• Follow utility locating procedures and excavation safety requirements.
• Identify and report potential safety hazards to the Foreman or Supervisor.
• Work safely around heavy equipment and moving machinery.
• Perform physically demanding work in a fast-paced outdoor construction environment.
• Complete all assigned tasks while maintaining Telecon's safety and quality standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:

• Previous construction, underground utility, telecommunications, civil construction, or landscaping experience preferred.
• Experience working around excavation or underground utility installations is an asset.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the workday.
• Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 80 pounds.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions year-round.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and travel locally when project schedules require.
• Valid Washington Driver's License with a clean driving record required.
• CDL is considered an asset but is not required.
• Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and construction machinery.
• Strong work ethic with dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Basic computer and mobile device proficiency is preferred for timekeeping and company software.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
• Must successfully complete a background check and any required pre-employment screenings.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Frequently lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
• Frequently bend, kneel, squat, climb, and work in uneven terrain.
• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Work in confined spaces, near excavations, and around heavy construction equipment.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
